Submit Your Poetry

General Rules

1. Work must be original writing created by the student.
2. The piece must be related to the prompt.
3. Open to students in grades 7-9 and 10-12.
4. No fee to enter.
5. Any submission that discriminates directly or indirectly against any demographic sector, ethnic group, or religious group will be disqualified.
6. Release form must be signed.
7. Deadline to enter is October 28, 2022.
8. Winners will be announced December 5, 2022.

How to submit your Written Poetry

1. The poem should be 250 words or less - points will be deducted if the student goes over the limit.
2. Only poems written in the English language can be judged.
3. Only one written poem per student can be submitted.
4. Submit a typed Word document (saved and uploaded as a PDF) of your poem.
5. The poem can be written in any poetic style.

How to submit your Spoken Poetry

1. 3-minute limit – points will be deducted if the student goes over the limit.
2. Work must be original writing created by the student.
3. Only poems spoken in the English language can be judged.
4. Only one spoken poem per student can be submitted.
5. No musical background or sounds should be added.
6. Submit your poem as an MP4 video file.
7. Submit a typed PDF document of your poem along with the video
